CarolinaEast Health System is a multi-service, multi-facility comprehensive health care provider caring for residents throughout coastal North Carolina from a central New Bern location. At the heart of the health system, 350-bed CarolinaEast Medical Center has cared for the community since 1963. There are 2,100 medical and support staff who support the 250 physicians serving on staff and representing nearly all medical specialties. In addition to the medical surgical areas, there are dedicated units for neurosurgical, intensive and intermediate care, rehabilitation, women's care, pediatric care and cancer care. Cardiac care is a focal point and includes diagnosis and treatment with interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. Likewise, the level and sophistication of the CarolinaEast oncology services are rarely found outside of a large metropolitan or academic medical facility. Patients requiring extended rehabilitation are cared for in the 20 bed CarolinaEast Rehabilitation Hospital.
A vast array of outpatient services are offered at the free-standing CarolinaEast Diagnostic Center, CarolinaEast Surgery Center and at the medical center. CarolinaEast Physicians care for all phases of life from offices in four eastern North Carolina counties.
