This coastal environmental protection nonprofit organization offers education, restoration and preservation, environmental information and legislative accountability. Founded in 1982, the federation now has over 10,000 members and three offices along the coast—in Ocean between Swansboro and Morehead City, in Wrightsville Beach and in Manteo. The federation is funded through members and private and government grants. They love their volunteers who help them with marsh-grass plantings in the late spring, oyster shell baggings and reef creation, trail maintenance days and a variety of other work in their offices and field sites. They are eager to hear from volunteers who are ready to have fun and help the coast.
