Volunteers, working through the Friends of Fort Macon, act as guides at this historic site throughout the year. Training is usually conducted in February of each year. Fort Macon is one of the busiest state parks in North Carolina, and volunteers play an important role in facilitating visitation. Volunteer opportunities, such as meeting and greeting visitors and assisting in the overall operation of the center, are many; contact the park for details.
