May 29 - 31, 2020 Swansboro Rotary Club's Bluewater Tournament is held on Memorial Day weekend. Formerly combined with the King Mackerel tournament, the tournaments were split into two separate weekends. The new name for the tournament series is The Swansboro Rotary Fishing Tournament Series. The King Mackerel and Inshore Trout and LizardFish tournaments take place in October.
The May Swansboro Rotary Fishing Tournament Series has prizes and cash winnings of $180,000 based on a 50-boat participation. Registration takes place online prior to the event, or at the Swansboro Rotary building the Friday before the tournament. Proceeds from the tournaments benefit the Swansboro Rotary Scholarship Program for deserving seniors at Croatan High School and Swansboro High School and the Take a Kid Fishing Program. Participants pay category fees to compete in the tournament.
